Samsung T7 Portable SSD — the perfect Mac backup drive

A pocket-sized SSD that makes Time Machine backups effortless and fast.

If you are new to the Mac, the very first accessory we recommend is a backup drive — and the Samsung T7 is our favourite.

Setup on a Mac takes under two minutes: plug it in, open Time Machine in System Settings, choose the drive, and you are protected.

Transfer speeds are excellent over USB-C, and the aluminium shell matches your Mac beautifully. It is small enough to live in any bag pocket.

What we liked

Very fast USB-C speeds
Tiny and light
Works with Time Machine out of the box

What could be better

Cable is quite short
Rubberised case sold separately

Our verdict

The easiest way for a Mac beginner to get proper backups. Buy one before you need it.
